My idle doesn't stable. - Click HERE for Original Thread

Guys, pls assist me, i experienced a particular problem this morning when warming the engine of my pilot 2003. When i start the car and stable for about 3mins and my AT was in "P" (Park) b4 i know it the can started flunctuating i mean when on idle and park mode and my rpm was going up and down btw 700 to 1200.

But if put on my AC the reving will stop i mean my rpm will be around 800 and stable. Also it doesn't behave that way when the AT is on "D" drive mode.

Guys what do u think could be the problem? Any idea???????????

Awaiting your response pls

Sounds like a sticky idle bypass valve.

N-Jay my friend i don't understand what u mean pls

And let me digress a little bit, u know i promise to get back to u after i might have located where my engine number is. I eventually got it later thank u very much i really appreciate for your quick response. Besides komosabe later send a scan pics on the forum for me.

Back to my new problem with idle, pls expand your views.

There is a valve that lets air "bypass" the throttle so the engine can idle.

It goes by lots of different names, I forget what Honda calls it.

It seems when it is a little more open (like when there is an AC or transmission load on the engine it is working fine,

BUT,

When there is no load on the engine and it is then needed to make very fine adjustments very close to the closed end of its range it is having trouble making then smoothly.

It could also be a very small air leak, or a maladjusted throttle plate.

N_JAY are u talking about EGR valve and if not can i do this myself on DIY? though, i'm technically incline (Electrical Engineer) besides, if i can get a step step tread with pics if possible i wouldn't mind, i think i should be able to handle it.

Awaiting your response pls.

Not the EGR.

You need to get a service manual.

Most cars have a "fast idle control" that increases the idle by about 200 RPM when the AC compressor is clutched in. I don't know anything about Honda's implementation but I would have thought that idle is under processor control, as long as most sensors and components are working within certain parameters.

Right answer to the wrong question = WRONG!

Now is a good time to reread the original post.
