a couple of days ago my wife let her mother drive our 03 pilot.
she called and said that the srs light is on...
well, she was right. and now it wont go off.
is this a serious problem?
or a simple fix?
all i need is a wreck to happen and the airbags doesnt work.

Just curious......

Does your '03 owner's manual shed any light on this condition? Mine is only for an '04.

Yes, I think page 56 does warn about Mother-in-law's! :runaway:

P.S. Get it checked and fixed.
graveltravel
lol what ever njay..... ur so true!!! lol
anyways, ive checked and manual , and ofcourse it states " to take it to the shop for immediate service".
dammit... i thought this would have been an easy fix...
if it helps... i installed xm radio in the thing last weekend.
would this effect it at all?

Have you tried to reset it yourself? Do the manual reset, if it comes back on, then get it checked out. It might be the piece that's covered by the recall too?

I had similar problem, i just took terminals off battery for about 5 mins and then put it back on and it went away.
graveltravel
wife took it to the dealership today.
ill find out in a couple of hours.....
but, isnt honda supposed to cover anything dealing with the SRS anyways?
seatbelts,airbags etc etc????
graveltravel
ok, they said its the SRS control unit.
and that its not covered.
and that it will cost us 600 bucks.
wtf.
graveltravel
they said that honda will pay for 50% of all costs... so, therefore it'll cost us 300 bucks instead....

"In regards to the warranty extension for the SRS/OPDS unit, several Honda models may have
a problem with OPDS (occupant position detection system) that causes the SRS indicator to stay on. Typically, one or more of these DTC's (diagnostic trouble code) will be set:

SRS DTC 15-1 (faulty OPDS unit or OPDS not initialized)
SRS DTC 15-2 (faulty side airbag indicator circuit)
SRS DTC 15-3 (faulty OPDS sensor)

To ensure continued reliability with the OPDS, American Honda is extending the warranty on the
OPDS unit and the OPDS sensor to 10 years or 150,000 miles, whichever comes first.

NOTE: Any repairs to the SRS system for problems other than SRS DTC codes 15-1, 15-2 or
15-3 will not be covered under this warranty extension. We wont be able to know if this
falls under the warranty extension until we inspect/diagnose the SRS/OPDS unit itself."

graveltravel
well, that doesnt realy help, because its the actual unit, not the sensors.
but, i did reset the system... and the srs light is off........... for now.
