I just had my ignition replaced and had to have the new keys programmed to my car. Before I left the dealer, I checked to make sure my remote was still working and it locked an unlocked the doors. However, I forgot to make sure my remote starter was still functioning and of course it isn't. I found instructions on how to program the remote for the doors but not the remote start. Does anyone know how to do this so I don't have to go back to the dealer and waste another 2 hours of my life?
Thank you! |

| if you have a remote starter, it is probably aftermarket. if they replaced the ignition they would have replaced the transponder in the key. So, unless it is the same dealer you need to program another transponder to read your new ignition in order to be able to remote start it. |

| Thank you for your reply! So do you know how I would go about doing that or is this strictly a dealer-only issue? They are saying it will take 2 hours. Could this possibly be true? |

| you can probably trace the connections but better leave it to the dealer to figure it out. at least it will cover your ignition and RS warranty for the install. |

It could be the connections, but I bet the unit has an immobilizer bypass that either has a hey in it or a transponder programmed to match the car.
That needs to match the NEW ignition key set. (or have it added to the cars key list). |
