Alarming squeal/Squealing alarm?? - Click HERE for Original Thread
John G
I made a rather sudden maneuver the other day in our 05 Pilot EX-L. There was a high pitched alram-type sound that came from I'm not sure where. I have hearing aids, and can't always tell where a sound originates. I looked to see if the VSA light had come on, and if the sound was related to it, but it was off. (The light, not VSA) The sound lasted maybe 5 seconds, or just a bit longer than I was cranking the wheel and accelerating. I don't get any noises from the rear end when I do a tight figure-eight, so I think that eliminates the VTM rear. Any ideas what this could be?
Thanks,
John G

AHA!!
This happened again yesterday. The weather was very hot, and AC was running with blower on high. The sound is coming from the dash someplace. My wife's ears are much better, and thinks it may be related to the AC/heater blower. Does THIS sound more familiar to anyone??
Thanks,

From the way you described it, it sounds like a belt squeal. Especially if it is happening while you are cranking the wheel all the way over.

I have isolated this to the fan. I know there is a longer thread here about stuff caught in the impeller, and think that's what I've got too.
Thanks for the belt tip though. it is very intermittent, and probably couldn't be reproduced in a quick test drive by dealer service. I'll tackle taking it apart & let you kno what i find.
Thanks,
John
