Hi All,
Just bought 2007 Pilot and was somewhat surprised by the fact that the grille design allows for easy access to the condenser. I have a garage that has a small ramp so when I drive my other car, I can clearly see the lower part of my Honda Pilot.
Anyways, what is the best way you guys have found to protect the condenser from small pebbles/rocks, etc...? On the one hand, Pilot is the best selling SUV so if the condenser would be so vulnerable, I'd think Honda would take of this issue. On the other hand, I read some forums where people were very upset that their 1000 AC condenser part and labor was not covered by the warranty.
Did any of you buy the protectors for the condenser? |

| Having spent about 4 years on this message board I don't ever recalling anyone having a problem with a bashed condenser due to rocks and such. |

For some reason, this seems to be more of a problem with the Honda Odyssey than the Pilot.
But, from what I see, the Pilot is exposed just as much. |

Looks like you have the '06 Model. Did you put a mesh over it?
I'm going camping this weekend and know that I'll have to travel on gravel. Of course, will keep a fair distance from the other cars in front of me :-) |

Thanks for that info. this is what I found last night:

Though perhaps those with a problem tend to be more vocal than those that are satisfied.
I had the condenser problem with my 1999 maxima, so it's safe to say that no car is immune. Still, the Pilot seems overly exposed. |

| In my experience, if you worry hard enough about something bad happening, ... something else bad happens. |

No, I've not changed it at all.
I've had no problems after 23K miles. |

| I lost a condenser from a rock on my 04 3 years ago. I put some standard metal window screen in front of it, and haven't had a problem since. |

Wow, I forgot about that mod until I read this thread.
Read pgs 2-4 and look at CAjack42 and Rseery as well as my own posts. No problems with overheating no problems on trips. A roll of the screen will be enough to do several cars or even fix the screen door! :p

BigV, here's an older thread in which members reported the problem and posted their individual fixes for it. I'd say it's pretty informative and helpful for your concerns.
