From this press release:
http://www.newswire.ca/en/releases/...8/01/c9152.html
""Our all-new 2009 Pilot, with a sales increase of 81 per cent, is proving
to be a right vehicle at the right time for Canadian families thanks to
Honda's innovative Variable-Cylinder Management system that makes it Canada's
most fuel-efficient eight-passenger sport-utility vehicle."
Honda July sales highlights include:
- Honda Pilot sets July sales record of 642 units, up 9% over the
previous July sales record of 583 units in 2005 (and up 81% over last
year)"
I know when I was at one of my local Honda dealerships, they had two 2009 Pilots marked as "Sold" but I have yet to see one driving on the road. I know Canada is a much smaller market than the US, but if 642 in one month is the new record, does anyone know what the average would be divided by how many dealerships there are across Canada? |

Well, this goes to show how different the markets are in the two countries:
From:
http://blog.al.com/businessnews/200..._alabamama.html
"The Alabama-built Honda Pilot sport utility posted a dramatic 47 percent drop in sales last month, as light truck manufacturers across the United States grapple with shrinking demand for such vehicles amid high gas prices and a sluggish economy.
Honda, which unveiled the redesigned 2009 Pilot at its Lincoln assembly plant in the spring, said it sold 7,486 of the vehicles last month, compared to 13,136 in July 2007. So far this year, Pilot sales trail 2007 by 21.5 percent." |

I think I saw it somewhere lately that
Honda has to cut production on these 3 models due already had 99 day inventory on the Pilot, Odyssey and Ridgeline. |

Here are the sales figures for Honda and Acura.
Sales of a new model should not be down from the old model. The redesigned Pilot is out of the gate and in trouble-but lets hope its the economy stupid! |

We are a bit different market up here. I ordered an '09 Touring Sterling Grey on June 30th. Delivery is in about two weeks. Could have bought a MDX, load MKX, load Enclave, loaded Highlander, loaded CX9 etc, etc. Took them all out for test drives. There was no real choice better than the Pilot, period. Technology or looks !
The Pilot and MDX where produced up here until they decided the plant should pump out more Civics. Haven't seen any '09 Pilots on the road but also not many on the lots. The Touring models are sold before they hit the lot. Only negative comment would be that Honda Canada is the worst for not recognizing our dollar is now close to par with the US$. We are paying a big premium (list Touring $49,900 vs $40,000). |

Yes, and with record sales there may not be any incentive for Honda Canada to change that. It's sad because hearing all the stories about great prices in the US, makes the Pilot very appealing.
The $50,000 MSRP however puts it on par with a 2007 Escalade ESV (which is way, way, way less practical in some ways but the 403HP engine sounds 1000% sweeter :bling: ) |

My '09 Touring in Silver Grey has been delayed from July production to August production (maybe). "Production problem"
Has anyone heard of a production issue for the '09 Pilots? |
