Went to Honda dealership to get a tow package intalled on my '05 only to find out the equipment is on back order...has been for at least two months for another customer...and they have no clue when the order will be filled!
This doesn't sound like the "Honda" team that sold me on buying Honda...
Anyone know where I can get more information from Honda on this...besides the dealership? |

According to www.handa-accessories.com they have all 4 components in stock, ready to ship. IIRC, that is where I got mine a few years back..
Bring 'em to Honda dealer, bend over, then get installed !! |

Yea.... I did do it myself a few years back.
The instructions were very clear and I saved about $600 in labor ( they wanted $1300 to do the whole thing, parts and labor ). My parts were about $600 or so back then.
The savings prompted me to go ahead and get a boat. Rational thinking, right??? :2: :4: |

Thanks folks. Parts ordered and called the dealership and told them the stuff it. Oddly enough, after them scheduling my initial appointment only to inform me that morning the parts had not beeen ordered...then they telling me they were on back-order but would order and not make me pay...when I called, they had no record of the order.
Pitiful. |

Wonder if you called the right number? ;) Offering to not charge you for a hitch package is quite a concession.
Reminds me of a crappy office job I had years ago. I worked right across the street from a large used car dealership and our switchboard number was one digit different from theirs.
Folks at home watching TV and hearing of the "no money down/everybody gets financing" used car deals being offered by the local SUPERDEALER would race to their phone and light up our switchboard as they misdialed the number of the car dealership.
When I was not busy, which was most of the time, I would field some of those calls and try to explain that they had misdialed the phone. For those who would not listen, I would offer outrageous deals and invite them to come over right away for this one day special!
Eventually the dealer figured out what was going on and called me one day. Put an end to that party.:D
The only thing that saved my bacon was that I had tried (severral times) to tell the guy from the dealership he had misdialed and only began my act when he began to insist that I was lying to him. |

Howdy!!
I think that the offer to not make him pay for the hitch package was just an offer to order it with no money up front. IE, no down payment or 50% down now and 50% due when it arrives.
Also, if phones had redial capability back when you were fielding misdialed calls, I would have suggested the caller hang up, press redial, and make note of the # on the screen. Or have the caller call information to ask for the phone # of the SUPERDEALER only to find out it was indeed 1 digit away from your # :2:
Although, I do like the way you handled it! :4: :D |

| That's correct, the offer was not to have to pay up front to order it...not that they ordered it. I have purchased three Honda vehicles from this dealership...I left the salesman a message with my disappointment and mentioned I have another Honda dealership much closer to me now... |

So.... from where did you order your hitch package?
Are they still reasonably priced? |

I ordered from H and A accessories. Parts are due Monday. Total cost for parts is a bitr more than half of what the dealership is charging for parts and labor. |

That is great for those waiting. Unfortunately, my main disappointment has been with the way the dealership handled all of this. |

Update: Received the parts on Monday, the Father-in-Law and I installed them in 4 hours on Tuesday. Followed the directions included and it went exactly as explained. Could not have been easier and I saved $600.00
Thanks again to all who recommended this path. |
