Hello all. I was wondering if anyone else has this issue. The volume rocker switch on my steering wheel squeaks! Pretty badly actually. Its like it's not riding where it's supposed to or like it's too tight against the surrounding plastic.
I don't have to press it very hard to make it work, and it operates the volume okay, but the plastic switch squeeks and rubs against the plastic around the switch. It's worse it hot weather and can get pretty annoying.
Also, if I press it too hard accidentally, I will feel a POP and the switch will get stuck! That's a real good way to blow out some speakers because the volume will just keep climbing straight up until you correct it and it doesn't take long to get WAY too loud.
Has anyone else experienced these things with your volume control rocker switch on the steering wheel? |

I exactly experienced same problem except volume down botton. And it's getting worse when the car sits under sun for a day. Occasionally, it will get stuck and my stereo volume goes down to zero.
Well, I just had a oil change last Saturday. And I addressed the problem to the dealer. First, the associate tried and said not a problem, but I insisted that when the car gets warmer, it will get worse. He agreed to park the car in sunlight and try again.
After my oil change done, the associate called me and said that they are ordering the parts, and it should arrive this week. We''ll see. |

Just for update.
I just got the volume control replaced at Honda dealer (warranty repair). The spec sheet said "internal failure". |

Add me to the list, mine died this weekend in my '07 Pilot.
My switch was squeaking/creaking for a week or so, and then got stuck in the up volume position, I had to hit the off button to spare my son's hearing, and then worked it free at a stoplight.
When I got it free, all of the3 buttons stopped working. The volume feels loose, but the other 2 feel fine despite the fact the do not work.
I am due for service, so I will get my switch replaced (under warranty) at that time.
I will see if I can get a more detailed explination from my Service Advisor when I take it in. |
