Tailgate "STAY" right and left failures on my 2003 Pilot, allow tailgate to fall with considerable force. I can only assume that one failed initially and then the other, and apparently one will still hold the gate up. Or else they both went at the exact same time, which is hard to imagine.

I assume you mean the lift shocks that help to raise the tailgate has failed. Those things will fail over time as with other items. Get another pair from Tim at our site sponsor at hondacuraworld.com and get them replaced.

If all they did was help lift the tailgate, then it wouldn't be a real problem. But, when both suddenly fail while the gate is in the up position, you could be left with a real headache as the gate drops with considerable force.

I replaced both lifts today, only the left side was defective, so I can say now, only one lift will not support the very heavy tailgate. When I had both removed, the actual weght of the gate was extreme, these lifts are very powerful.
