Transmission / Engine Oil Leak - Click HERE for Original Thread

I took the Pilot to the dealer about a month ago with an engine oil leak, which appears to come from the crank seal. Amazingly, the dealer removed the transmission and replaced the seal the same day (that’s what they said). Then after two weeks, the leak appeared again. This time it took the dealer seven days for the replacement of all transfer case seals.

Two more weeks after the second visit and the oil leak appeared again. I left the pilot again on July 31, 2008. I called on August 4 and the troubleshooting this time is a new transmission (and that it requires approval from American Honda). My call to the dealer on August 11 for follow up is that the transmission would arrive in 5 to 10 days.

My third call to the dealer, today (August 20), is that the transmission would arrive sometime next week because American Honda required some photos (I know this is B.S.).

I also called today American Honda (Customer Service) and it was just a waste of time. They just told me to send a fax/letter to them with details.

After three weeks, I have no idea what’s the cause of the engine oil leak and now the transmission failure.

I’m heading over tomorrow to try to speak with the service manager.

There is no towing with the Pilot.

I requested a loaner, but the dealer denied the request. They said they don’t do that in Puerto Rico.

I’m very disappointed with the dealer customer service (even though quality seems to be another problem). I have to harass the service people just to get simple feedback. After owning many other brands (Toyota, GM, Mitsubishi, Volvo, Mazda) the Honda service is the worst after GM’s.
