The noise is very hard to describe. It started while we were driving back from Florida a few weeks ago. I had about 200 miles to try and figure out what was causing it. I have pretty much ruled out anything inside the cabin. It has become more frequent and louder as time goes on and only seems to happen at around 70mph.
It sounds like something is rubbing and sounds squeaky at a frequency of 4 or 5 cycles per second. The sounds is muted like it is coming from the engine compartment on the passengers side.
Any ideas would be appreciated. |

Does the intensity or frequency vary with speed?
Does it vary with RPM, like going up hills?
Does it do it with A/C off?
Does lightly applying brakes effect it?
Does lifting off the throttle effect it?
Does turning the steering wheel (like to change lanes) effect it?
Do you and someone in the passenger seat agree from what direction the noise comes from (down low, up high, passenger side...)? |
