Just bought our 09 Pilot, Touring model without rear DVD. We couldn't program the Homelink, apparently because our fairly new garage door opener has a "rolling" security code. Solved the problem as follows. First press "learn" button on the garage door opener, then press Homelink button as the instructions prescribe. However, it STILL didn't work. Then we started from scratch, holding the hand-held opener near Homelink, and it worked. Hope this may help someone else.

Most new automatic garage door openers use rolling codes. That's not the issue; the Homelink can handle it. Sometimes, you just have to keep trying the programming procedure until it works, and it only works if you follow it ... TO-THE-LETTER.

krygny, I'm sure you're correct, most openers would have "rolling" code. I'm pretty sure (99%) we followed instructions to the letter, and tried many times, clearing codes, etc. In our particular case, the instructions just didn't make it happen. If this happens to anyone else with an 09, trying what worked for us may help.

The most difficult part of programming for us was getting the homelink to finally recognize and lock onto the opener's signal.
1. Clear all codes with button 1 & 3 for xx seconds.
2. Press and hold desired homelink button, then press and hold garage door opener button, DO NOT RELEASE either button until you notice a change in the speed at which the homelink led is flashing. It can take the homelink several seconds to lock onto and store the opener's signal.
3. Then you press LEARN on your garage door opener motor.
4. Press desired homelink button once for about 2-3 seconds.
5. Press desired homelink button again and it should run the door.
I notice on both of my homelink vehicles (honda and bmw) that you must press the buttons about 2-3 seconds before they actually send a signal to the doors. Again, on both cars, step #2 was the one that always got me. You will definitely notice a change in the led flash rate when the homelink unit has locked on the the openers frequency, wait for it ;-) |

It took me several attempts to get my rolling-code opener programmed, so don't give up.

We have fairly new Sears Craftsman (LiftMaster) garage door openers (SO installed them this past Spring) that use rolling codes and the HomeLink on our Pilot and '02 Accord work fine. It was a little tricky, but we followed the steps in the Pilot and Accord owner's manuals and it is working fine. The trick was having me hit the learn button on the garage door opener while my SO was in the vehicle so that he could press the appropriate HomeLink button in the vehicle a few times right after I pressed learn.
