'09 Pilot -- more details about the Bluetooth functionality? - Click HERE for Original Thread

I have found the dealer, owner's manual and Honda website (handsfreelink.com) inadequate in answering some detailed questions about the Bluetooth functionality. Any help is appreciated.

* How many phones can be paired?

* Presumably for inbound calls it can work with all paired phones actively in the car at the time? If not, how does it prioritize?

* For outbound how does it determine which phone to use? Is this controllable by the user?

* What happens if you are actively on a call on one phone and another call comes in on a different paired phone in the vehicle?

* Is there any quick button way to transfer a call to/from the phone to the car Bluetooth? The manual mentions the “transfer” voice command but this is awkward if you’re on a call. And does it work the same both ways – going from the phone to the car and the car back to the phone. For example, if you’re using the car Bluetooth and others are in the vehicle and you want to go private on the phone, what’s the quickest way to do this?

* Even though my phone is successfully paired and can send and receive calls, and I have successfully programmed my “home” phone number in the nav, when I try telling it to “dial home” or “call home” it comes back saying no phone was found. If I instead tell it to “dial …” with the dots being the #, it works. Any ideas?

* The manual says you can combine voice commands like “Dial 555-5555” instead of “Dial” wait “555-5555” But when I try this it recognizes the # but still re-prompts me to say “dial” Any ideas?

Thanks.

keep in mind that I am also a newbie in pilot 09 so my answer might not be correct.

only work with the one currently paired. I am not sure

you can switch phone - i believe there is command called switch

the other phone just ring as usual

I don't know

it's a separate phone book. You have to add "home" in you handsfree phone book

Thanks.

I watched the interactive demo on the features at the Toyota site and found out it can handle 6 phones and it only pairs to one at a time. If there is only one in the car at the time it is probably automatic. If there is more than one, it doesn't explain how it prioritizes or how you select it. Since each phone is assigned a verbal name I presume you can voice command select it but it didn't say how. For me this will be confusing since I have two phones on me at all times even when I'm the only one in the car. I don't mind having one default for outbound calls but I will receive calls from both.

My last question is reiterated by the demo which showed someone saying "Dial 555-5555" (I made up the # here) as one voice command then it dials. My point is when I do this, it still comes back, every time, and asks me to separately specify "dial" after it accepts the number which seems to defeat the purpose of using one voice command instead of two in the first place.
