audio/RES questions - Click HERE for Original Thread

Hi, a couple questions about the RES/audio functionality. Thanks for any help.

-- I think its nice how you can control the front and rear audio sources independently and how they can both play at the same time. My question is whether there is a way to set the front source to NOTHING (i.e. no source) without turning off the system and affecting the rear. For example, let's say those in the rear are watching a movie and there are more people than head-sets so you leave the DVD audio on the rear speakers but up-front the adults want to have a conversation rather than listen to the radio or have the DVD coming from the front speakers.

-- Is there no way to see the DVD image from the front screen while parked? This is a feature of the Toyota and some others than display it in the nav screen when parked. It seems like it would be difficult to impossible to navigate the opening options menu of the DVD to play the movie without this ability. I guess you have to ask the kids to tell you what is highlighted and do it blind?

Yes, you can basically turn the volume to "0" and have a conversation with the front passengers with no issues. I have turned the power off accidentally and the kids quickly make me aware that the "The movie is off now!" You can listen to the cd/radio while the rear passengers can have their own source, but turning the volume to "0" will suffice for your situation.

I do not know of a way to see the dvd on the screen, but keep me posted if anyone knows this trick.
