03 Power seat control trim piece broke - Click HERE for Original Thread
tubbscc
The plastic standoffs that mount the trim to the frame sheared off on two of the three mounting points. Has anyone seen this and if so how did you fix it. I've superglued for now but this will be a temp fix for sure.

Has anyone replaced this piece and if so how much was it, warranty etc...

We seem to constantly snag our leg/foot/clothes on the edge that sticks out at the front of the seat. I suppose this eventually broke the pieces. Anyone else have this problem with snagging this trim piece?

This is the trim piece in question:

This is a pic of one of the two sheared standoffs. I've already superglued it in back in place but you can see the white line across where both broke.

After trying to put this piece on I discovered another standoff broken in the same way on the smaller trim piece under this one.

It's been discussed here before, some have had it replaced under warranty if I remember correctly.

I used to snag my shoe on it all the time until I finally got used to it and now it very seldom if ever happens.

I did a search before I posted but I admit I don't know the name for the part.
Thanks for the info...

I had mine replaced under warranty early on. I think it was a common problem for at least the '03 model. I believe (someone will correct me if I'm wrong) that the forum search function is limited because old forum data has been lost to previous system crashes.

I fixed mine, however I don't have pictures to show how but I shall attempt to explain.

#1 Go to home improvement mega store and get a solid rubber cork that will fit in the hole snugly. These are tapered, and you may need to cut the length off, so that they do not stick out of the hole in the plastic. At Lowes these are located with the blk screws, etc in the slide out drawers.

#2 While at Lowes, or other mega store of your choice, obtain a screw that is longer than the factory one that was holding the cover on before. Probaly about 1/2 inch or so longer. Also get a washer for this screw.

#3 Cut the rubber cork to length, so that it will not show.

#4 Using pliers hold the cork and proceed to drill a hole through it for the new screw to go through.

#5 Put washer on screw and insert through rubber cork. Then insert entire assembly into plastic trim opening and begin to tighten.

#6 As you tighten the rubber will expand causing it to hold the plastic trim piece tight and snug to the seat.

Once again sorry I don't have any pictures of it.

that a good solution gryphon, sounds like it should hold up well too. Our Pilot is out of warranty now so I'd just assume implement a cheap fix if possible.

Although apparently the new part is about 30.00 I expect it will break again eventually.

You can buy the part and fix it. My wife broke ours when the Pilot was new. We have a 2004. I think it was $35 to replace.

I did try to glue it but that did not turn out well.
