| Found this web site not long ago, and just got my pilot. I don't know how to start a new group buy, or if it's still possible to start one. Anyone interested in a running board? Thanks. |
|
|
| aerostar45 |
| I missed last round. |
|
|
| ramirami |
| I will be interested too....but what would be the price ? I have seen them at around $394 on the internet. |
|
|
| PaulV7 |
| I may be interested it all depends on the total price. |
|
|
| fup |
| I'm in. How much is it? |
|
|
| eugeneflim |
| I'll answer some questions, since I started another thread. You need to ask the moderator (info@honda-pilot.org) to start the Group Buy for you, he will do it. The price I believe should be around $384 with shipping. I will also join once the GB becomes active. |
|
|
| everest |
| eugene, we should send an email to info@honda-pilot.org to start the group at hondauraworld.com? We have already got 6 ppl here. how many is the minimum? 10? Does the price 384 include shipping? I thought hondauraworld.com always ships free with $2 handling fee. I will email info@honda-pilot.org to initiate the group buy, is that Tim? |
|
|
| hondacuraworld |
All somebody needs to do is call me or email me at hondacuraworld@aol.com if you ever have any GB questions.
10 people, for 10% off. Free shipping in the continental US, 2.00 handling charge per order.
C'mon, we only need 4 more! :) |
|
|
| everest |
Hi, Tim, I sent an email to info@honda-pilot.org for the group buy. Not sure if you got it or not.
However, I just browsed hondaucraworld.com, and noticed the price on running board is increased from $427.7 to $440 today. Same thing for the current group buy cross-bar, it is now $147.29, and the group buy of cross-buy is still $120.51 and based on 10% off old price $133.9? What will be our group buy price on the running board now?
The $384 price eugene mentioned is based on yesterday's price. |
|
|
| hondacuraworld |
I don't get those emails.....I just sponsor this site :)
Those prices actually went up two weeks ago.....due to a UPS rate increase :(
The 10% off would be 10% off the current listed price. |
|
|
| eugeneflim |
Looks like after increase we are at $440-10% + $2 handling = $398,
still better than anywhere I could find, and only $12 more than before (with handling). So, I would probably go for it. |

I found my OEM Running Boards on eBay from Anthony @ Phil Bachman Honda. It cost me $ 345 + $ 35 shipping. Only $ 380 total, and I they were delivered within 2 days.
The number is (866) 762-8293, and they sell on eBay under the name hondaaccessories. |
|
|
| hondacuraworld |
| Well, if that's so, then I'll have to drop my prices back down and eat the shipping increase. |
|
|
| everest |
| Sorry, couldn't wait any longer, wife wants it now. So I ordered through PB Honda. Have to take my name off the list. |

Just got my Pilot today.
Pretty sure I need side steps or running boards.
Two questions:
1) Are these hard to install?
2) How do group buys work? What do I
do?
Sorry if these simple questions are in a FAQ
somewhere. I looked, but did not find.
:( |

cphelanmn: if you do a search on running boards, you'll find a couple of threads where people who did their own install said it wasn't too bad at all (depending on how mechnically inclined you are). If you're interested, thenjust say, "Count me in" and that's it!! :4:
Here is one thread: Running boards installation question |
|
|
| cphelanmn |
Ok. I looked at the installation threads.
I don't think I want to do this. Does that mean
I have to buy the running boards from my
local Honda dealer? Or can I buy through here
and get a dealer to install them?
Thanks. |

|
|

cphelanmn: to be on the safe side, check with your dealer first, but quite a number of people here have purchased accessories online and have successfully had the dealer install them!!! :4:
Here is a something you might want to take a quick look at (best I could find on short notice): Negotiating prices on dealer installed options. |

First time poster... still trying to figure out how thing works here.
I noticed that hondacuraworld.com's list price is $397.50 now. Does it mean the GB price is $397.5-$397.5x10%=$357.75 plus $2 handling fee? If so, I AM IN! |

Cool!
We'll run this GB right after the Floor Mats expires mid next week. |
|
|
| PilotMac |
Tim, the floor mats GB on the hondacuraworld website under the "special" shows the offer is good throguh March 10th, 03. Is that a typo? If so then the offer is still valid, right? I might jump on that, too.
BTW, thanks for setting up the running board GB. If you don't mind could you please educate me a little on how to proceed once you have it set up. Do I need some kind of secret code to get through the backdoor to get that price, or you will just post it in special section then I can order it directly? |
|
|
| kemosabe |
PilotMac: The code to get into the "Specials" section of hondacuraworld is Kd&2hNfsK02jGHddqLnc9#zld19 (Do not confuse this code with the Acura MDX group buys....) :14:
Just kidding! Just go to the hondacuraworld web site and go to the Specials section (not the Pilot section) and place your order there. You don't need to be one of the original 10 to jump in on the Group Buy -- it's pretty much open to whomever (while quantities last or until Tim can order more if he runs out). :4:

PilotMac: Sorry, forgot to respond to your first question... that March 10th date has to be a typo since the floor mat group buy was only posted there yesterday!!! Tim usually keeps the specials up there for about a week, so I think he probably meant April 10th... |

hey guys sorry to say I have to back out of this group buy. I talked to the fiance and there are others things we need right now. But by next winter I will have them. Cleaning the snow off the roof is a pain standing on the tire.
I think the only other thing I may be able to get for my Pilot for awhile is a full size spare. We go into small towns in WV to climb and I don't want to have blow a day climbing cause I had to get a tire fixed. |

Actually, tim.s, I was implying (with that photo of a female on the tire step) that PaulV7 should have his fiancee (maybe by next winter, his wife) go outside during the winter snow storm and clear the snow off the roof while he stays inside the house sipping hot chocolate like any husband is entitled to... :p ;) |

sjohns6 , I don't know what level you are in installing this stuff..but I went to my dealer on Sat. to get the wind sheild for the hood. My intention was to install myself. One quick glance at the install instructions changed my mind real quick. It called for a rivet tool to complete the install. So I paid them to do it. I would rather have it done right, than to screw it up and be stuck with it.
I felt good when it was over as the service manager at one point went out to check on the progress, and saw a scratch on the unit. Had it replace with another one. Had I taken part home to do myself, I doubt that I would have a scratch free wind sheild now! |

You're right, PilotMac... the current GB going on over at Tim's place is the EX Crossbars for roof rack (sale good through Thursday April 17). It seems that Tim is running one GB at a time, so the earliest I would expect to see anything is 4/17... I think Tim is already aware that you have enuff for a GB, but I'll e-mail him again so that he can place it on his "To Do" list... |

Let me do my best to explain....
The website software is designed to charge orders when the order is placed, regardless of when it is shipped....I assume that people understand that once the order is placed and they enter the card info, the order is put into process.
Let's say that for example I don't put a disclaimer like that on the site for the GB. What happens is, people don't know that there is a real possibility that I'll run out for a few days, or that I won't have enough in stock to cover the orders. Follwing that, I end up getting a flood of emails with people wanting their tracking info, and wondering when their items will be shipped. With this system, the guesswork is kept to a minimum and I can try to efficiently cover all of the orders placed. Lessons learned with the cargo tray GB.
Traditionally, I don't keep 10 sets of boards for the Pilot in stock. Two or three at most. |
|
|
| Mpressive |
| I just wanted to thank Tim (Hondacuraworld) for their awesome customer service. This was my first groupbuy and I wasn't quite sure how it worked. I received a tracking number today and the item will be here before I go out of town so all is kosher in my world. I hope I didn't cause any confusion. :( Thanks again!! :) |

There was an issue that I hope is now part of the past that we worked out. The secure online server spit out an approval code that the website didn't recognize.
Hopefully I'll be back at work tomorrow at some point, I just mentioned this over in the Cargo Tray buy thread, but I've got a severe case of food poisoning, and sparing you the details, I may have to be hospitalized :( . Just waiting for blood test results. |

It felt odd, but I just ordered running boards for a vehicle that I do not own... Our Silver EX-L is being built this week and should arrive soon (we hope)!!!
I'd like to thank all the posters who put so much good info on this web site. This has become my new favorite website and has been wonderful reading for the past week as we fretted over the color, the accessories, the options, the first model year concerns...
Now if we could just sell the van to make room for the Pilot :)
FYI, I received an error on Tim's site when I submitted my order but the confirmation email showed up anyway, so I think it is processing orders but not handling the return codes yet as Tim mentioned. |

Just curious,
I put my boards on last week. For those who have done this, how many of used a torque wrench?
I did my by hand without the torque wrench, but was careful not to force them too tight.
What about everyone else that has done the install??

nCelk,
Haven't got around to installing my running boards yet either but I'm wondering how long it took you to install yours? Was it difficult? |
|
|
| ncelk |
Mpressive,
I took my time and was in no hurry, so keep that in mind.
Overall from start to finish it took me about 2 1/2 hours. I also took about 15 mins at the end double checking all the bolts. The # of bolts is pretty overwhelming.
Not difficult, just a little time consuming. I am sure that I could do another set in 1 1/2 hours or so.
Good luck.
