Group Buy- Towing Package, anyone interested - Click HERE for Original Thread
wpressley
Is anyone interested in group buy for towing package? Let's see if we can get ten people!
silverex
Count me in if we can get the price right. Honda is pretty proud of those accessories.
Kelly
Hi, new to the site. Just took possesioin of my Honda Pilot 3/17/03 I'm interested in the tow package, but can we install the cooling system ourselves?
Brew
I don't need the whole package I would do just the hitch!!
tatng
I also only need the hitch to haul my bikes.

Thanks
Tat

Someone ought to check with Tim to see what the "towing package" includes from hondacuraworld... I just checked their web site and there wasn't a separate line item for "towing package". Instead the towing package is listed individually:

Honda Pilot Trailer Hitch
Code:08L92-S9V-100
Price: $199.00

Honda Pilot Trailer Hitch Harness
Code:08L91-S9V-100
Price: $37.70

Honda Pilot ATF Cooler (Trailer Hitch)
Code:06255-PVG-305
Price: $193.70

Honda Pilot Power Steering Cooler (Trailer Hitch)
Code:53765-S9V-800
Price: $172.90

Honda Pilot Trailer Hitch Ball
Code:08L92-S10-100P
Price: $11.70

Does the package include all of the above? Can you pick/choose only the pieces you need? Just something to think about... :8:
vellinga
Yes, I'd be in for the Hitch-only option. Only need the trailer hitch for hauling bikes at this point.

Does anyone know if the wiring harness simply plugs in the rear somewhere or does it need to be professionally installed? Thanks a lot

It simply plugs in. There is another thread on how to do it - but you will find the instructions to be more than adequate. Should take you about 20-40 minutes total.

YMMV

I'm in for a hitch, harness & ball
ottopilot
I would be interested (this time I will keep awake and visit the board more often than once a week)

I just need to haul bikes, so what would I need at a bare minimum for a rear trailer hitch mount for any bike carrier?

If all you want is to haul bikes, all you need is the bare-bones hitch. The best deal around is probably still the Hidden-Hitch from etrailer.com.

Good luck!

And if all you want is to haul ass, all you need is the Propeller Hitch Plug. :D :D :D

Kemo, you would never make it in the Navy!!!

(I wonder what kind of picture I will get back on this one!!!  )

That's what those Air Farce dudes had!!! :2:

Props on planes.
Screws on boats/ships.

('least that's how the Navy teaches)

YMMV

Hey we need a towing package to tow a trailer this summer.
I don't suppose there are enough interesting parties to make it a group buy? (need 10 for Tim to give the %10% discount I think)
skibikerun
I'm interested in the hitch-only also!
Honda_Pilot
Another vote for hitch only. Need one for my bicycle rack....
tatng
Folks,

Did we qualify for the discount (> 10) ?
If we add the members who need just the hitch & the members for the whole tow package,
we have more than 10 people (about 8 for the hitch, 2 or 3 for the tow package with cooler).

Thanks
Tat
havasu
I'll ask Tim.
I don't know if hitch-only plus hitch-plus-cooling can be aggregated to make the 10. I'll ping him.
tatng

The kemosabe guy declares that he needs a lobotomy (I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy) for muddying the waters in this thread... sorry!!! I don't need any towing stuff... (slipping away from this thread...) :)

Thanks for doing the accounting summary, tatng.
I still have not heard from Tim.
brave_sir_robin
Hmmm, I was thinking about just the hitch for hauling bikes but looking at the numbers:

Hitch, harness, tranny and power steering coolers bought separately from Tim is $603.30. Retail is $769 although that might also include the ball.

The "trailer hitch package" from Tim is $525, in a group buy that would be $472.50 + handling fee.

Just the hitch from Tim is $199, in a group buy that would be $179.10 + handling fee.

Decisions, decisions... $180 for just a hitch still sounds a little steep to me, but $473 for the whole package sounds a little more reasonable, especially when I consider that I'll end up paying over $600 if I get just the hitch now and buy the rest later. Of course, I don't need to tow anything at the moment and may never need to...

I'll have to think about this some more.
davisdog
I'll throw my name on the list for the whole Package if we ended up doing this.

I'm sorry I didn't chime in on this earlier......we've been doing extensive remodeling here in the department and it's just teh two of us.....

I can't do any better on the hitch than my present price, with the UPS rate increase and the size/weight of it, there's just nothing left to discount.

Tim,

Please clarify. Are you saying that the current price is $199 and you are not
going to give the 10% discount for the Honda-Pilot group buy ?

Thanks

Unfortunately correct. This is why I ask people to email me about a group buy at hondacuraworld@aol.com before posting a thread. I do what I can, and I'm truthful about what I can't.
