Background: this is in response to a user who wanted to post their Pilot gas mileage data that they had in a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet into this forum.....
Bring up your spreadsheet in MS Excel. In my case here, I am using Tom Clancy books as my example... |
| kemosabe |
Save your spreadsheet as a web page by choosing the File --> Save As... menu option.
I'm calling mine (duh!) clancy.htm |
| kemosabe |
| Use Wordpad or Notepad to bring up your newly created web page file (in my example, clancy.htm) and search for the line that says "border=0" and change it to read "border=1". Save the change!! |
| kemosabe |
| Highlight everything starting from the HTML tag that starts with "<"table x:str border=1 until... |
| kemosabe |
| ...the last html table tag near the bottom of the document. Then click on the "Copy" button (or choose the Edit --> Copy menu item). |
| kemosabe |
| Paste your selected text into your post. Using the keyboard combo of Ctrl-V will work nicely... |
| kemosabe |
And when all is said and done, you should have somewhat of a table... (don't know why there is so much space before the table shows up!!! :3: :3: )

I take my Nikon 35mm camera and aim it at my 19" computer monitor. When I have used up all 36 shots on the roll, I take the film to Wal-Mart and in 3 days, I go pick it up. I then scan the 4"x6" pictures in.....
Just kidding... I used a package called Paint Shop Pro to do the screen captures... it works pretty well. ;) |

All the space is because a break (new line) is inserted for each new line in the post.
To fix this, you can edit your html (before posting is easier) to remove the newlines.
I have to do this in the VIN table thread or there would be over 300 blank lines!! Thanks to admin for pointing this out to me. |
| kemosabe |
Well, I'll be... thanks, havasu!!! Who would've thunk it was the newlines, huh???
Thanks!!! :29:

You had me going until you talked about the "roll" of film.
I used to use the shareware version of PaintShop. Still installed on here somewhere. Didn't know it could do that. Thanks for the info. |

| If you're using the shareware version of PSP (ver. 4.12), then go to the Capture menu to setup and start your screen captures... |

Just did a search. I have 4.14 zipped up but not installed. Thanks for the info. |

You essentially have to make all the html one line, with no newlines in there. Many text editors allow you to do this, depends on your editor. |

Just a clarification...
The
new
lines
are
invisible.
But there is one at the end of each of the words in that last sentence. |

Ferdball, I took the liberty of stripping the newlines out of your html code for you... (please double check the table to make sure it looks right)

Ever see on one of those "Captured on camera shows." A woman (possibly a blond) has to work overtime to post an Excel spreadsheet and instead she goes into the copy room, lifts her skirt, sits on the copy machine, and presses start. Not knowing there is a camera recording the whole thing? :D |
