I just love your chihuahuas! Sounds like they're real travellers!

When I was a kid, we had one we called "Teener Weener." A real sweetie pie--and FULL of pep.

You might say we all have a steel pet (or two)! Do you have any of the flesh-and-blood variety (and I don't mean two-legged)!?

Great kitty picture! It would take more than two of my 8-1/2 lb, 14-yr-old Zipper to equal one Jake!

krygny,

Kemo has no expereince at this!!! :o

Let me offer a suggestion:

After you do the browse to attach - wait just a few seconds before you actually hit the submit reply button. I have had much better luck with attachments since I started doing this.

(just kidding about Kemo - he has "some" experience) :2:

Catbert, I've fallen in love with your Chinese Crested hair-challenged doggie.

I'm not at all familiar with the breed--How big do they get? What kind of disposition do they have? Do they require any sort of grooming to maintain that adorable look?

Is the breed kind of on the rare side? I'd imagine a puppy doesn't come cheaply.

krygny: It worked!! Yep, you're absolutely right about the Preview Post feature... the attachment gets lost -- quite a few people have mentioned this "annoyance" about the vBulletin software -- I guess it's just one of those things that we all have to keep in mind when previewing a post!! :4: :17:

Thanks!

Mocha is about 10 pounds. Some get a little bigger. You can't believe how sweet this dog is. She is just like a baby. You hold her and you feel like you are holding a baby. Since she has no hair, you can feel her warm body temperature, and she just loves snuggling. (You do have to put sunscreen on her when you go outside, and remember that if you are cold or hot, she is too.) A weekly bath in Phisoderm keeps her skin clear. She does get blackheads sometimes, but you just squeeze them out (again, like a person).

I bought Mocha from a breeder in Jacksonville, FL. She was not show quality, so I got a "pretty good" price (my husband rolls his eyes when I say that). I had to fly her up here because I didn't have time to drive down to get her, and I thought it might be too much for a puppy, so I also incurred the price of a plane ticket in the deal. I would definitely only buy from a reputable breeder thought because these dogs can have some genetic problems, and you want a written guarantee with the pup. Local breeders were asking me $300 but couldn't give me any history on the pup's lineage. So I ended up paying about double that in order to get known genetics.

There are also powder puff Chinese Cresteds. The powder puffs have hair all over. In a litter, there will be pups that are hairless and with hair. I had to have the hairless because of my son's allergies.

This breeder has some really good pictures of different Cresteds: http://www.chinesecrested.com/examples.htm.

This is Lacey and Chanel. We call them our Fu-Fu dogs. But don't let looks deceive you. They play tug harder than our dear departed boxed and can catch a Frisbee in mid air. Lacy (the smaller one) will knock you down to go for a ride in the Pilot (or any vehicle) while Chanel (the bigger one) will run and hid under the bed if she hears the keys jingle. We attribute Chanel's lack of enthusiasm to our daughter. She took the dog for a drive when she first got her license, since that day Chanel runs the other way when you mention go for a ride. Poor dog!!

WOW! Some beautiful animals in this thread. Really makes me want a dog again, but apartment living the last decade or so has made that impossible. I grew up with Golden Retreivers and Labs and miss them so much. Once we get settled here we will hopefully look at another Golden once our son gets a bit older. I think all kids should have pets to grow up with so for now our neurotic cats will have to do. Lemme see if I can dig up some pics.

Cats:
AJ - ~12 years old, 18 pounds, pretty much blind. He's entertaining to have around. He gets picked on my the youngster Hailey, but every once in awhile he will sit on Hailey and bite him as Hailey whines. Pretty funny.

Tigra - ~5 years old, shes the princess. Always sitting as high as possible and is a total lap cat. Very snobby and stuck up.

Hailey - ~2 years old, the overactive annoying baby of the bunch. Always clawing stuff he shouldnt and getting into things, but what can you expect. Likes to attack the other two who dont really enjoy it. :)

These pics were taken while they were locked up in 4 month of quarantine in Hawaii. It was their first experience sorta being outdoors and they loved it. Once they got released they loved playing in the backyard, even the blind one, AJ.

Here's AJ:

Scary thing is see where Tigra is, about 7 feet up this narrow ramp. After he was there about a week we came to see them and couldnt find him. Well he was up top in the nest area. Couldnt believe he actually climbed up there. They had wired in the area with some protective wire and given him 2 ramps to make it easier for his extra girth. He loved it up there. Too funny.

She came in one day 6 years ago, a stray cat. She never left. Find out it was our new neighbour's cat, but she didn't want to live there any more. She likes our dogs better. Her name is Gizmo (neighbours gave her that name, it stuck).
Sunday Rider
This is Jave, our Chocolate Lab, very gentle and easy going. We call her Parry Como.

This is our second Chocolate Lab, Kaisy. She is wild, hyper, and can fetch sticks all day long, no matter how hot or cold. We call her mental kaisy. She is also on my avatar, a real close up.

However, hey have not yet been inside the new Pilot - getting the leather treatment on Saturday, and looking at the whole pet barrier thing before they get in..........:4:

rumeryjk,
That is a great picture and a kind thing you did bringing those 2 home. It seems the older pets are left behind in many shelters. Labs are such great dogs.
I use a couple of the heavy duty moving blankets to keep the Pilot clean from our 2 dogs. Don't forget the glass cleaner for all the nose prints, and tongue washes.
