Sales guys "crack" me up - Click HERE for Original Thread
rdy2tk3
Got a phone call from my local H (not heroine) dealer on Monday night saying they were offering "shockingly" low prices to meet sales quotas. He said he has seen miracles happen lately because the sales director is PO'd and they've got to dump some vehicles. I thought "what the hey" and methodically got in my 92 Accord and headed into the jungle. We sat down and and I said "how about 28K for a Pilot EX-L. The sales guy says "I think we're pretty close on this" and got up to talk to his manager. He came back with a piece of paper with $36,980 scribbled on it and says "we're normally getting this for these EX-L's (with no other options), but I can go $31,980 just for you" (SHOCKING). I said "how about 28K?" He gets up again, later comes back with $30,980 (gee MSRP, thanks for such a concession on your behalf, the red sea is parting as we speak)...
I wasn't really there to buy unless a too-good-to-be-true offer was given. Finally, he stands up and shakes my hand and wishes me luck.

Luckily, a friend of a friend is a car dealer owner and we've agreed tentatively on a fair deal. My wife is making me wait till late June to save more for a down payment :( Till then I'll live vicariously through all you lucky stiffs...

I know, this guy was saying $900 for CD changer, $280 for cargo cover, and $200 for mud flaps. Bend over...

Why wait? Any additional 'savings' created from now until June can always be applied towards principal. If you wait until June, you might as well wait until September and get an '04. You'll have a bigger down payment and a car that's worth more. (An '03 bought in June is already 6mo depreciated, although they don't credit that when you buy it.

Look at it this way. In 5 years, 2008, your '03 is five years old and your '04 is only four years old even though they bothe could have been bought in '03 only three months apart.

Plus, you gain any improvements made to that model year. And there will be some for sure.

Good food for thought MDX...
