Snowshoe recomendations - Click HERE for Original Thread

Any Piloteers that snowshoe? I'm looking for recommendations on brand/model for recreational hiking on moderate trails - nothing extreme. Co-worker has had good experience with Tubbs and Redfeather, and also recommended Atlas.

TIA

I'm considering taking it up as well, as an alternative to winter running while I'm in Virginia. Men's Journal just had a guide on them for whatever that's worth.

Thanks! Looked like the article only touched on a few brands/models. A start though!

I did a bit of surfing on the sites of the ones your friend suggested. Redfeather and Tubbs have some pretty neat guides to the proper shoe for how and where you want to use it.

Mrs. colorider and I went looking tonight at a local "Sportsman" type place. They carried Tubbs, Redfeather and a couple off-brands. I was pretty impressed with the Tubbs Adventure series.

I have a pair of snowshoes that were hand made by Raymond Green in Broadalbin, NY about 25 years ago. They have neoprene webbing that doesn't ice up like leather does, and Sherpa Bindings that came from LL Bean. Everything is in very good condition.

I will sell them for $65 plus $12 shipping to the 48 states.

Hopefully, I will attach a picture to this message! If that doesn't work, send me your email address and I will email a photo back to you.

Thanks for posting the pics!!! The "traditional" shoes sure look neat - Tubbs still make some similar. Sounds like a good deal for someone looking for this style/size. We are looking for probably a 21-22" for Mrs. colorider and 25" for myself.

Good luck!
