Posting pictures w/text

I'm looking for a little help in posting pictures I've scanned. The last time I tried to simply enter the path on my local drive and the picture didn't post. What's the trick?

At the bottom of the posting page there is an Attach file:
section. 'Browse' to your file and it will attach.
