Petco Park - Click HERE for Original Thread

I know I'm pushing it a bit but I'm getting ready to head down to Petco Park to watch some of the SDSU Invitational and need to know if backpacks are allowed in the stadium. I will be taking the trolley which means nowhere to put a backpack if it's not allowed inside.
Do any of our SD members know what can and cannot be taken into the park?

I'm bringing my camera so I'll post some pics when I get home.

I plan on leaving at 9:30 so if you can help with the do's and don't's, please let me know quick!

Thanks all.

I did bring a backpack but was told that for future games large bags would not be allowed.

I took a ton of photos of a beautiful park. This is the first time I've been in a 'modern' ballpark and I was really impressed with the differences between Petco Park and Qualcomm Stadium (the Murph).
For those of you who have recently opened new ballparks I now know why we work so hard to get these things built. For those of you who have never visited a new ballpark, my advise would be to check it out, it's really a lot of fun.

I posted a number of the pictures I took in my gallery. Check them out if you enjoy that sort of thing.

Nice Pix! I need to head down for a game sometime this season. The new parks are nice. Went to Pac Bell Park last year and really enjoyed it. I still think Dodger Stadium is one of the better ball parks to see a game and it's pushin' 50 years old. Anaheim Stadium or whatever the name is this year, is nice after the remodeling Disney did to it. Anyway, the park looks great. Could've come up with a better name, don't you think?

smurray - Is that the new stadium across the convention center in downtown San Diego?

Yes, it is. After more than 5 years of construction/litigation/construction/litigation/etc. it is finally completed. There have been some minor hiccups this weekend but I had a great time bringing me son to our first game in the new park. Some of the photos in my gallery show what they call the "Park in the Park". It is supposed to be a grassy area behind center field where families can sit on the grass and watch the game. There is even a small baseball field complete with grass infield in the park for the kids to use. I'm excited about that because these will be the least expensive tickets at $5 each and will work great for my family. The park isn't complete yet but should be in time for Padres opening day.
