Hey Guys,
I was thinking of trying to organize a group buy for Weathertech Weatherflectors. These are side-window deflectors that mount inside the window channels. The channel mount gives a much cleaner look than the traditional stick-on style.
Weatherflectors allow cool, fresh air to enter the vehicle when moving or parked. They help reduce wind noise when the windows are down by redirecting the airflow away from the window opening, similar to how a bug or wind deflector does for your hood. The best part is that you can have your windows slightly open, venting out stale or smoky air while keeping rain drops from entering the vehicle and getting your interior surfaces wet.
Weatherflectors come in two different shades and can be purchased in either 2 piece (front windows only) sets and 4 piece (all four windows) sets.
There are many honda-pilot.org members who already own a set of these and they highly recommend them.
Here are a couple of threads that contain member reviews and pictures of Weatherflectors installed on Honda Pilots:
http://www.hondapilot.org/forums/sh...=&threadid=4035
http://www.hondapilot.org/forums/sh...=&threadid=4252
Also, if you would like more info, here is the link to the manufacturer, Weathertech's website:
http://www.weathertech.com/store/pr...item_group_id=4
I would like to get a preliminary head count of members who would be interested in participating. If you are interested, please reply in this thread.
The regular prices I have found are as follows:
Deflectors4less.com
2 Piece Set: $59.99 Shipped
4 Piece Set: $79.99 Shipped
I will be emailing a few vendors over the next week or two to inquire about and possibly set a group buy deal. The more participants we can get, the better deal we will likely be able to get.

I am interested in a 4 piece set. However, when I go through the links provided in the earlier threads, they show two types of Weatherflectors available; light and dark.
I would prefer the light tinted ones.
Thanks |

I recieved an email from Jennifer Moore today. She is going to look into it and see what kind of deal she can come up with for us.
There have been a few questions about the two colors. There is a dark tinted smoke color and a light tinted smoke color. Here are some pictures so that you can see the difference between the two colors: |

I was concerned that the visors would stick out and make the Pilot look funny, but after seeing this picture, my concerns were put to rest.

No problem on the photos. Thankfully we already have some members that have these and were nice enough to post photos for us to look at and compare the two colors. I was hoping to find more photos of the dark color just for a better comparison, but it seems that most people who have them have bought the light color. |

Wow! we are up to 21 participants! I never expected there to be such a great turn out of participants for this group buy in such a short period of time. I hope to hear something from Ms Moore sometime next week. Hopefully she can get a good deal on these deflectors for us!

I would think that with the windows rolled up, they would be harder to get out since there is pressure from the window pressing the deflector against the window channel. I will send a PM to some of the members who already have these and see what they say. |
|
|
| rvhjr1945 |
They are relatively easy to get out if the window is rolled gown- just flex them and they will come out. I have never tried it with the windows rolled up. They are very secure in the window channel.
There is no worry about wind, car washes, etc. dislodging them. |

Does anyone know is there any law restriction on these window deflectors in the NY area? or where is it restricted?

If the windows are up, but open enough to allow air in, there is no way they are going to be able to pull the vent visor off without breaking it.

Howdy, With the windows up I don't think anybody could steal the WeatherFlectors without actually breaking them off the car. The windows press them into the window channel.
(Of course with the windows down they could certainly remove them!)
Hope that helps... Robo
Based on the two different responses i got regarding this, I would say that the only way the visors could be stolen is if the windows are left down too far. If the windows are only slightly down, just enough to vent the vehicle, the visors should not be removable without breaking them. |

Front and rear, dark. Add me to the list.
dclw - I don't know, but I don't think they're outlawed in NY. I see them all over LI. I know heavy tinting on the front side windows is outlawed but that doesn't stop people from having it done. |

Here is the deal. This is a disappointment for me and Im sure for the rest of you.
Jennifer has replied and said that their regular price on the Weatherflectors is already very close to their cost. Once they add the free shipping into the equation, they are basically barely breaking even.
The only offer they are able to extend to us is what is referred to as their "Club Discount" which is a 5% discount.
We have some desisions to make here. I will let you guys decide the next step.
Choice # 1: Take the 5% and run with that.
Choice # 2: I can contact Weathertech and try to work out a groupbuy directly with the manufacturer. They do sell directly from their website, so there may be a possibility of getting something a bit better by going directly through Weathertech.
We have already been marinating on this for a week now, so I dont know if you guys are tired of waiting or not. If you want me to try choice #2, I am willing to do the legwork and see what we can get.
I would like to get some feedback from the rest of you on what you would like to do. |
|
|
| jlee2070 |
It would appear to me that Mats4Less' price is fairly good and with the 5%. We might be as good as are going to get...
Mats4Less' reg price is 79.99/ no shipping. With 5% off, we will get them for $75.99 (4 Piece).
Direct from WeatherTech is 89.95 + $9 Shipping or $98.95.
Difference is: $22.96 (or about 23% off). Not a bad discount...
Just my 2 cents but I'm fine with Mats4Less' price... |
|

| dericksen |
| I'll go either way. I'm in no hurry so if you chose #2 it's ok with me. |

4 Piece - $94.95 + $6.95 Shipping

4 Piece - $80.95 + $9.00 Shipping
www.weathertech.com
2 Piece - $49.95 + $9.00 Shipping
4 Piece - $89.95 + $9.00 Shipping
It seems that even without the 5% off that accessories4less still has the best price because of the free shipping. Im kind of thinking the 5% off from accessories4less may be the way to go.
What do you guy think? |

This is my thinking as well, but if enough members want to try to go for more, I will.
Just for record, My vote is to take the 5% mainly because none of the other vendors I have found offer free shipping. If some other vendor were to offer say 15% off, the accessories4less price would still be better since the most common shipping cost is $9. |

I think we will go with the 5% discount. It would take a 25% off deal from Weathertech.com to beat the 5% off deal from accessories4less.com simply because of the free shipping.

When does the discount code (that I received via PM a few minutes ago) expire?
My understanding is that the code is a standard "car club" discount code which is in effect for an indefinite time period. Jennifer did not state an expiration. I will ask.
Just to clarify, the discount code applies to the ENTIRE order, correct? :8:
Direct quote from Jennifer's email: Club Discount is a 5% discount that will be good for any vehicle, any product.
My PM may have been misleading. Jennifer is a representative for autoaccessories4less.com. deflectors4less is one of their companies. I believe the discount code applies only to their deflectors4less products. Notice the first 3 letters of the discount code.
And the FREE shipping also applies to the entire order, right? :8:
Again, my PM may have been misleading. Free shipping applies only to their deflectors4less products. If you go to the deflectors4less.com main page you will see the free shipping banner at the top. Notice the first 3 letters of the discount code.
In my PM I said "accessories4less" and I should have said "deflectors4less" Im sorry if that was misleading guys. It was unintentional. :( |

The mistake was very understandable -- it took some time to PM/e-mail all the interested GB members, so things like this can happen -- not a problem at all. That's why we look out for each other (like Maverick's wingman in the movie Top Gun) and make sure everyone is getting the correct info. :17:

Then I noticed the black Westin Safari Bar has an additional $10 mail in rebate until the end of the month, I figured I should go ahead and order it to avoid missing the purchase deadline for the rebate.
As you said, hopefully we will get replies regarding the oval side steps soon. There is a $10 rebate on the side steps until the end of the month as well. I would like to get them ordered before the end of the month to save another $10.
I will let you know if I get a reply. |

| An alternative would have been to just call Jen and order from her. I spoke to her today and she was more than happy to take any order and give our members the 5% off to boot. Well, at least you got your order placed. |

Personally, I like the darker one better... :)
