Hi All,
As I am going to get back into biking, I was shopping very intently for a new bike. After much research, I have narrowed my choices to two bikes, the Specialized Sirris or the Gary Fisher Nirvana, both '05's. I will be riding mostly paved city streets in SF. I was wondering if the front suspension in the GF would really be necessary. Do any of you bikers (bicycle) have any advice or other recommendations? BTW, both bikes can be had in the Bay Area for around $460. Thanks for any help. |

If the prices are the same for the bikes, my opinion is get the GF bike because of the front shocks. Even if you won't need it for short on road trips, it's more useful in long trips or an occasional off road.
In comparing bikes, look for what components the manufacturer are including, weight of the bike and fit and finish. Make sure you test drive both so you could compare which one is the best for your type of riding. Good luck.

dragoncoach, sorry for the drift...
Do you have any recommendations for places to bike ride around SF? I am specifically looking for fairly flat areas that has bike path. I will be towing my Burly D'Lite with two little girls (adds about 80lbs of towing) and hills will kill me with all the poundage behind me. Thanks in advance. |
