Hi All, since our pilot is rapidly approching 36,000 miles there's a few issues I'd like to have fixed. The NHTSA site has a bunch of TSB's listed (see http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/p...rintVersion=YES ).
Can those of you with access to the details please post the full problem description (if you can't post the whole TSB) so I can see if they apply to my problems - jctatman can you help.
If anyone else has any solutions-please post.
Thanks!!

NONE of the 4 things mentioned above are from bulletins. They are just articles in some "Service News" papers.
1. homelink: SN April 03, short range likely due to low batteries. Change the batteries. For more info go to homelink.com
2. Whistling from dash/wind sheild area: SN Nov 02, clogged or partically blocked holes in the seal under wind sheild. Cowl needs to removed & resealed.
3. seat noise: SN Mar 03, too much friction in the door seal, the part that attaches to the body. replace seal, new seal has less friction.
4. Temp guage: They are only meant to be about acurate at 19 miles hour, on a non sunny, non wet day. They don't change instantly at any time. They CAN be adjusted + or - 3 degrees. The reading when started is the temp when the car was turned off. It starts reading again at 18 mph. It has to be "cold" running temp to read the currant outside temp. I'll try to post the LOGIC on the bulletin threads if I can....it would explain much better than I can!
Now for the numbers you PM'd me....
They are not bulletins either.
"ticking after head replacement" was an article in SN Ap 03, it says it would mean the wrong gasket was used. It should be PGE, not P8C.
"PS belt failure after SB" the belt wasn't properly adjusted according to SN Nov 02.
"rear window buffeting noise" SN Oct 02 states, "if when front windows are closed & rear open while driving some buffeting or booming is the price paid for aerodynamically design....like mouth on soda bottle....
I found nothing on the other seat noise except whats above. Nothing on the 2nd row seat!
By law manufacturers have to report this stuff to the National safety people. They aren't all problems that have solutions at this time.
It doesn't do any good to state a problem without a way to fix it.
I hope this helps!
If you ask the dealer to look up the Service News, they MAY understand how to deal with your complaints.
Good luck! |

Thanks for checking those out for me jctatman.
The only consistent and most annoying problem of the four I mentioned is the front passenger seat squeak. I had the dealer check it last year and they said the only solution was to have the leather removed so they could tighten up the cross sections that were causing the squeak then they would put the leather back on. Never had it done cause I was afraid the leather would never be the same (although maybe it would have gotten rid of the sag:D ). I was hopping a less invasive solution had been found by now. How 'bout I drench the thing in wd40?
The outside temp accuracy seems normal from the item you posted above and the wind noise happens very infrequently. I'll have to check out homelink.com for more info on the comment you found the battery.
Looks like you saved my dealer some diagnostic time, I'll probably just have the oil changed at 36k - no final warranty work necessary. Maybe you should send them a bill for saving them all that diagnostic time although I'm sure hell would freeze over before they parted with a few bucks.
Thanks Again!! |
